Community Empowerment through Self Help Groups, Skill Training and Adult Education at Bidar, Karnataka

The project was started in 2011 in 20 villages of Bidar Taluk in Bidar district of Karnataka state. The project is being implemented in partnership with Don Bosco Bidar, reaching out to the marginalised community with focus on women, children, youth and differently-abled people.

Strong grass root level organizations are formed in rural villages such as Self Help Groups, Youth Groups, Old Age Groups, Children’s clubs, etc. Trainings, camps and awareness classes are conducted on a regular basis to capacitate the target groups

Reached out to 20 villages of Bidar Taluk in Bidar district

More than 450 women were mobilized and facilitated through 30 Self Help Groups and capacity building programmes in developmental initiatives.

More than 1600 children were reached out through monthly education camps, children’s clubs and supplementary education programmes

Youths are mobilised in youth clubs and participating in development interventions of Don Bosco Bidar

More than 300 people who are physically challenged were assisted by linking with government welfare schemes/projects
