Empower Tribal Community through education, health promotion and sustainable agriculture at Pavur, Kerala

The project was started in the year 2013 and is implemented by Don Bosco Pavur, Kerala. The project aims at

  • Improving the education standard of the tribal children through supplementary education (evening tuition classes) and life skill trainings
  • Health education and primary health care services in 5 tribal colonies of the tribal villages
  • Support for agriculture training and cultivation of cash crops for ensuring long term and sustainable income for the poor tribal families.

The project is progressing well and already mobilized the tribal community and built rapport with them through regular awareness classes, health and education interventions

    Achievements from December 2013 to April 2014

  • Initiated evening tuition classes for children of tribal community
  • Weekly Health Education and one Medical Camp organised in tribal village
  • Skill training imparted for tribal men/women for rubber cultivation and processing
  • Initiated livelihood intervention for 50 tribal farmers through rubber cultivation
