On 7 October 2014 the TDH under the direction of Don Bosco, Hospet, organised a programme at Chappel Gadda slum area, near the Hospet railway station, to commemorate Gandhi Jayanthi. In this programme held at 11.00 am rice, wheat, soap and toothpaste collected by the TDH members from their own families and elsewhere were given to the representatives of more than 75 families. All the families received 5 kilos of rice. Special consideration was shown to lactating mothers and those preparing for childbirth.
The chief guest was Mr Mohamod Sarver (DCPO, Bellary). Other dignitaries present were Fr. Lawrence (Director, Don Bosco, Hospet), Mrs Ambhuja (CDPO),
Mr Rupesh Kumar (Councillor). All the speakers emphasized the need to care for the residents of such slum areas. It has to be realized as a joint venture of the government, NGOs and the dwellers themselves.
This programme is one of the services undertaken by the TDH members on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi, giving expression to their zeal to reach out to the suffering and marginalized in backward areas.
