MANNUTHY

History

In 1968, it was decided to set up an apostolic school in Mannuthy from where students could be sent to the provinces of Madras, Calcutta and Guwahati after their high school studies. Started as an aspirantate and an apostolic school for providing vocations to the different provinces in 1971, it has grown and developed.

 

Activities

 

a. Don Bosco School:

The prime aim of this school is imparting quality education to the rural children in the medium of English. The school has been securing cent percent pass and several state level ranks in Class X state board examinations. At present 1512 students are studying in the school, both in LP and High school sections put together. Eighty seven trained teaching staff and four non-teaching staff are working in the school.

b. Don Bosco Aspirantate

The Don Bosco Aspirantate prepares boys who aspire to the Salesian and priestly life. Through the religious formation and spiritual direction the aspirants are helped in the process of discernment and decision-making regarding their vocation.

c. Don Bosco Youth Center

Don Bosco Youth Center started for the youth of our neighborhood. The youth center offers the members an opportunity for healthy recreation and to train them to be upright and responsible citizens committed to values. There are 86 members in this centre.

d. Tuition Center

As a part of the education sponsorship program, tuition classes are conducted for the students from Class V to Class X.  There are 183 poor students from the locality who benefit from this activity.
