BREADS is the development office of the Salesian Province of Bangalore. BREADS assists the projects in the states of Karnataka and Kerala for a better, systematic and scientific approach to development. We promote integral development through proper systems of promotion, monitoring and evaluation of the Socio-economic, cultural, technical and Development Projects in the region.
           
Mission: BREADS is a voluntary organization aiming at the transformation of the poor and the needy, as resources and agents of change through educative presence and accompaniment.
 
Vision: We envisage a community of justice peace and joy.
 

Don Bosco Provincial House - Bangalore

History

Don Bosco Provincial House was set up at 75, North Road, Bangalore on 31st July 1979 and was canonically erected on 14th December of the same year. But due to constraints of living space, paucity of guest rooms and halls adequate enough for a Provincial House, a new building was constructed and blessed in 2002 on a site in Milton’s street, Bangalore. The old building now accommodates the Propaganda Mission Office and BREADS (Bangalore Rural Educational and Development Society), the Development Office of the Province.

Activities

The Provincial House

The provincial house operates from Milton Street. The House has the provincial offices and coordinates all the institutions of the province. The house also is used for training and animation programmes for the Salesians and others. The House also animates the unit of the Salesian Cooperators.

BREADS: Bangalore Rural Educational And Development Society (BREADS) aims at the transformation of the poor and the needy, as resources and agents of change through educative presence and accompaniment. It is the development office for the Bangalore Salesian Province. BREADS is responsible for a better, systematic and scientific presentation, promotion, monitoring and evaluation of the socio-economic, cultural, technical and development projects, both formal and non formal through Salesian interventions in Kerala and Karnataka, India. Propaganda Office: The Mission Office was started to find adequate financial resources to assist the Province in its works and development. It maintains regular correspondence with all the benefactors and well-wishers of the Province.

DonBosco Centre, Lingarajapuram:

On 1st October 1996 Don Bosco Center, Lingarajapuram was officially inaugurated and entrusted to the Salesians. Begun as an Oratory on the initiative of the Salesian Co-operators, it grew into a multi-purpose Training Centre in 1992, and finally into a parish in 1996. Besides the pastoral activities through the parish, he Centre has following activities:


- Slum Development Programme

- Crèche and Preschool for children

- Evening Study Centre

- Tailoring School

- Computer Training Centre
