BREADS is the development office of the Salesian Province of Bangalore. BREADS assists the projects in the states of Karnataka and Kerala for a better, systematic and scientific approach to development. We promote integral development through proper systems of promotion, monitoring and evaluation of the Socio-economic, cultural, technical and Development Projects in the region.
           

Mission: BREADS is a voluntary organization aiming at the transformation of the poor and the needy, as resources and agents of change through educative presence and accompaniment.
 

Vision: We envisage a community of justice peace and joy.
 


Don Bosco College - Angadikadavu

History

Angadikadavu is situated near Iritty, in Kannur district of Kerala. The vast majority of the population consists of immigrants from southern Kerala who do farming. Economically they belong to the middle class. The rest of the population comprise of the many tribal groups. Don Bosco College, which began as a parallel college in July 1995 has bloomed into a full fledged professional college.  

We have been given recognition by the Kannur University as an Arts and Science College. We can now therefore offer courses in these discipines at Graduation and Post Graduation Level.

The College has a well-equipped library, a well-established computer centre, digital audio visual studio as well as science and language labs.

Activities

- At present the project concentrates mainly on educational development. The project runs a kindergarten, a   Primary School and the Professional  College.

 
- The project runs a kindergarten and a   lower primary school at Kolikadavu   village. There are over 235 children(112   boys & 123 girls) in this programme.

 
- The college offers coaching for Class   12, computer courses such as   PGDCA, DCA, DTP, MS Office, DOA   and DCFA.

                                                          

- The professional courses conducted   are Master of Computer Application (MCA), Master of Social Work (MSW)   and Master of Communication and   Journalism (MCJ). Each department has its own area of professional   reachout.There are 103 (52 boys & 51 girls beneficiaries under this programme.

-  We offer 3 undergraduate courses in BCom, BSc (Maths) and BA (English)   with an intake of 130 students.
        
- There are 82 students in the class eleven and twelve parallel courses.

-  The college has a job placement and Career guidance centre.
  
- Animation of Youth Groups, Youth Leaders and Youth Directors are also taken up. There are 400 beneficiaries  under this programme.
